Carpets of Imagination

July 24th, 2009
Alicia has always loved color and texture — a passion that she inherited from her Armenian-born grandfather, a renowned Oriental rug authority. The smell of the wool, the touch of the fibers, and the variety of patterns were all integral parts of Alicia’s early life. Working from her home studio in Northern California, she maintains a high level of reverence for tradition and craftsmanship that compliments her company’s dedication to eco-sensitive practices.
With the belief that rugs are an ideal medium for creating a living piece of art, Keshishian custom designs each piece so that it reflects her client’s sense of style and beauty.

Lori Weitzner Presents All’Antica

July 13th, 2009

Lori Weitzner, the New York-based multidisciplinary designer celebrated internationally for her distinctive wallcoverings, upholstery textiles and window casements, presents an opulent fabric line for Sahco.

All’Antica—Italian for “in the manner of ancient times”—conjures the nobility, romance and exquisite artisanship of armor and weaponry, drawing on Tibetan, Italian, Chinese, and Turkish treasures spanning the 15th to 18th centuries. All’Antica is Weitzner’s sixth collection for the German manufacturer, and, like those before it, employs a range of technically innovative methods to translate the essence of her theme into fabrics with emotional resonance. Nine patterns range from voided velvet and pleated dupioni silk to seersucker metallic prints, with a color story encompassing lush neutrals, hazy silvers, timeworn golds and bronzes, mahoganies, chocolates, and spice tones.
