A Refined Approach

June 25th, 2009

A deep pride and passion for work is definitive of the artisan approach to design. Today’s successful high-end manufacturers understand the importance of maintaining a strong commitment and deep appreciation for classic quality, functionality and aesthetic splendor in order to keep artisan grade products competitive within the ever-evolving, bargain-driven design market.

Rocky Mountain Hardware’s kitchen and bath collection lets the intense beauty of bronze speak for itself. The hand-applied patina is uniquely affected by time, touch, and climate. Each kitchen faucet distinctly reflects its surroundings.

Fast Talk

June 22nd, 2009

Fast Talk from Alicia D. Keshishian features playful swirls of color on an ever-evolving background; circular and squiggly lines layer together to provide a sense of complexity to this overall clean and modern design. The Persimmon colorway consists of a vivid orange ground beautifully contrasted with multiple shades of green and deeper shades of orange and brown.

100% hand-carded, hand-spun, Tibetan wool; all wool is dyed-in-the-raw, so the gradual color transitions in the background are achieved through expert weaving, not through simply dyeing after the fact. RugMark certified.

Rikyu Collection by Ted Boerner

June 18th, 2009

The Rikyu Collection, designed by Ted Boerner for Conde House, is distinctive and original. Each piece is designed to delight the eye, engage the imagination, and comfort the body.

Ted Boerner combined many design elements to create the Dining Table, echoing temple architecture and bridge design. From its cast iron base to its solid wood top, the Dining Table speaks of strength.

tb-rikyu-room-2

The Tsukashi Table is Ted Boerner’s interpretation of a column resting upon a stone. With strong juxtaposition of round and square, this striking table makes a serene statement.

tb-rikyu-room-1

Inspired by the Japanese teahouse, the Rikyu Lounge Chair is the embodiment of serenity and restfulness. Its sides are richly textured, resembling wood grain or the raked sand of a Zen garden. Openings on the sides of the arm are reminiscent of the entry to the teahouse, Boerner’s nod to the concept of “Ma,” the transition from public to private.

The Rikyu Arm Chair (offered in Walnut and White Oak) features the same textured surface as the Rikyu Lounge. With its sturdy profile and handsome finish, it perfectly complements the Dining Table.

Inspiration can be found in anything that offers stimulation to the senses – in something as specific as a color palette taken from a single artifact or as extensive as a cultural time period, both of which can act as a nucleus for creativity.

Lori Weitzner’s “The Preservation of Passion” will focus on the artist’s never-ending quest for new sources of inspiration. The presentation will concentrate on the process through which Weitzner goes to find inspiration in her work and give the listening audience practical tools with which to ensure their own success, with the fundamental goal being to offer sources of inspiration for the listening audience in their own work.

Don’t miss this conceptually stimulating presentation from one of the design industry’s greatest visionaries.

The rich natural resources and age-old peasant traditions in this area are reflected in the design and materials of these light fixtures.

Aldo Bernardi has invested 30 years of passion and research in the pursuit of creating a unique and personal style: a style that “just feels right” but distinctly stands apart in the lighting market.
